There have been several methods for selection of drugs where scores are used and developed throughout the world in the preparation of formularies. The purpose of these tools is to identify the differences between products within a therapeutic class. In addition to scoring, there is SAT, Formulary committee members can use this tool to evaluate drugs in formularies for addition or deletion using a systematic, reproducing and consistent approach. In order to facilitate formulary listing evaluation, it is necessary to develop an objective SAT. Surveys were conducted cross-sectionally. In accordance with pre-determined criteria and sub-criteria, the proposed A SAT evaluation of the drugs was conducted based onto their relative importance on each of the diseases concerned. Efficacy, cost, quality, and safety were considered the main criteria. In all cases, questionnaires were created. Specialist and Medical doctors from public hospitals were asked to complete self-administrated questionnaires requesting data and information. Eighty doctors (non-specialists and specialists) from various disciplines were included as a convenient sample who prescribed ARBs to patients with hypertension in outpatient clinics such as those in Nephrology, Cardiology and Medical departments. The questionnaires were to be answered at their convenience over a period of four weeks. Our analyses were conducted using a one-way ANOVA, Kruskal Wallis and post hoc comparison tests with an alpha level of 0.05 for all analyses. Telmisartan or Irbesartan or Losartan were found to be preferred, followed by Candesartan or Valsartan , Eprosartan and Olmesartan. Public hospitals found that irbesartan was the most cost-effective ARB for hypertension. A formulary can be controlled by reducing the number of drugs while keeping those that are therapeutically appropriate, determine the best drugs to reduce costs, and enhance the selection process by providing predetermined criteria for aiding the decision-making process. In addition to complementing conventional drug selection, it is effective in helping through predetermined criteria for selecting drugs
